The Locals is an interdisciplinary initiative that bridges documentary photography, narrative research, and community-led storytelling to document lived experiences and expand public understanding of underrepresented communities. “The place I called home and countless other overlooked communities, had always had storytellers. Not in the most formal sense but as knowledge an archor.” By documenting lived reality and the use of visual storytelling, we hope to create work that speaks to both academic audiences and the wider public while while still remaining rooted in the actual community.
