“Sometimes my photographs are just for me, to remember a lucid moment. Other times, they’re my way of clarifying something ambient, something I can’t express with mere words.” Kakamega, Kenya John. Diani, Kenya. “I have learned that caring for older persons is not charity, it is dignity. Every day I wake up knowing someone’s parent or grandparent depends on us, not for anything that they do not already have, but for companionship and love. We offer what we can, God provides the rest. So everyday, I have to be strong” Nairobi, Kenya. I photograph Nairobi with the same intention I photograph Kibera or any other place , to reveal structure, to interrogate space, and to honor how people live. Navigating Nairobi with a camera, I try to retain as complete an image, of the scene I have observed, the person I have met or the experience I have undergone. I am documenting the fast-paced and colorful essence of Nairobi through the lens of youthful energy and everyday life. From the lively dynamic street scene, the series showcases the city's vibrant spirit, diversity and constant movement, providing a visual narrative of the dynamic urban landscape through the eyes of its youth. From the way people navigate life, find joy in the smallest moments, and transform struggles into symbols of identity . Kibera is an ongoing artistic expression.
