Next Billion Users (NBU)

The Next Billion Users (NBU) project by Google was focused on expanding digital access and fostering innovation in emerging markets. It reflected Google’s commitment to understanding the unique needs, challenges, and aspirations of people in regions where the next wave of internet users will emerge—primarily in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. In 2021, I documented communities that are often underserved or overlooked who  are not just passive recipients of technology but active creators of digital futures. The project bridges the digital divide by ensuring more people have access to the internet, affordable devices and services, allowing them to participate meaningfully in the global digital economy. It addresses challenges such as limited connectivity, literacy barriers, and affordability issues.
